FAQs
How do I know the size of inverter I need?
The size of inverter required depends on the load it is to power. This is determined by the power rating of each of the equipment; some may be rated in watts (W), others in volts (V) and amperes (A). (Note that ratings in volts amperes are derived by multiplying the volt rating with the ampere rating i.e. VA= VxA.)
For how long can the inverter back up?
The inverter can back up for as long as you want it to, depending on the configuration of the inverter. The backup time is determined by the load connected to the inverter and capacity of the batteries used.
Why do I need a surge protection system?
Surges are sudden but short lived increase in voltages which can occur due to a lightning strike or as a result of switching operations or electrostatic discharges. You need a good surge protection system because these surge voltages are very destructive to your equipment, and also because your UPS or stabilizer cannot handle such high voltages too. They all need to be protected.
What’s the difference between a UPS and an inverter?
A UPS ensures that pure power goes into your equipment and also ensures uninterruption of power going into your equipment by backing up whenever there is power outage, for within 15 – 30 minutes depending on the load and battery capacity, while an inverter is an alternative energy source configured to back up your equipment for longer periods.
Are the batteries safe for indoor use?
The kind of battery IBT technology adopts is the valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery. It is very safe for indoor use because it does not produce harmful fumes like the wet cells and it is absolutely maintenance free.
What if I want to increase back-up time?
All you need to do is to increase the capacity of batteries or reduce the load connected to the inverter.
What is the life span of the batteries?
Generally, batteries have a life span of between 3-5 years depending on usage.
